He studied hard, earned his MBA from the University of Strathclyde, and entered corporate India at a time when the country's economic story was just beginning to be written.

For twenty-five years, he worked at the intersection of India's most consequential industry — energy. At Enron, Reliance, Essar, and Punj Lloyd, he navigated the complex, high-stakes world of power plants, LNG terminals, coal logistics, and renewable transitions. He rose to lead the Energy Committee at the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, becoming one of the most connected voices in India's infrastructure ecosystem.

But alongside the boardroom life, something else was happening. Mukesh had always been drawn to performance — to the craft of communication, the precision of storytelling, the electricity of a live audience. He began taking on acting roles, and what started as a passion project became a parallel career. He appeared in Madhur Bhandarkar's Page 3 and Corporate, in Tigmanshu Dhulia's films, and in the celebrated Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster trilogy — always as a character actor, always in roles that demanded authenticity over glamour.

The television career followed naturally. His comfort with complex ideas, honed in boardrooms and on film sets alike, made him an ideal panellist on India's biggest news and current affairs programmes. He has appeared on over a hundred broadcasts, discussing everything from energy policy to national development to the business of Bollywood.

Today, Dr. Mukesh Tyagi brings all three worlds to the keynote stage.
